I am a historian of art and ideas, with a particular interest in how images and objects communicate. I specialise in the history and culture of Tudor and late-medieval Britain.
I am an AHRC/BBC New Generation Thinker 2019.
My PhD revealed how Tudor and Jacobean artists made their art 'lively' or vivid for viewers (University of Cambridge, AHRC-funded).
I am an Affiliated Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, and I give talks and teach courses about the art and cultural history of various periods to audiences of all ages and levels of experience.
